Description

"Let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning obtain guidance."

Proverbs 1:5

With so much noise in our daily lives, it is always difficult to really listen.

One of the most elusive spiritual disciplines is discernment - hearing God's voice in our lives and how he speaks to us personally.  We've assembled a panel of experienced Spiritual Directors with Coracle who will sit and talk with us about the practice of listening to God speaking in others' lives through their vocation of spiritual direction, and how they've cultivated the practice of hearing God in their own lives.

Join us to listen to these wise souls together for our first soundings seminar of 2022!

Panelists:

Dave Bonselaar -  Dave’s parish ministry, personal practice, and spiritual direction are influenced by Ignatian spirituality and are built around the contemplative– utilizing solitude, silence, Scripture-centered prayer, and journaling. Dave has earned a D. Min in Ignatian Spirituality from Fuller Theological Seminary, with a focus on “Friendship with the Triune God through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.”  Dave received his certificate in Spiritual Direction from The Cenacle: Our Lady of Divine Providence and his M.Div. from Western Theological Seminary.  Dave is ordained as Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Covenant Church and serves as pastor at Bridge to Grace Covenant Church in East Roswell, Georgia.

Debra Donnelly-Barton - Debra Donnelly-Barton is the Executive Director of the Center for Spiritual Development and is a seminary trained Spiritual Director with 20 years of experience. She has studied at Stillpoint, Sewanee, University of the South and General Theological Seminary in New York. Her MA in Theology is from St. Mary’s Seminary and University. Debra writes, “Within each moment is a call to conversion, but it sometimes it takes another listener to hear that call. I think of the director as a guide along a journey that director and directee are taking together. It is sacred time and sacred space dedicated to God’s perspective on our living. In direction we tune our hearts to the song that God is continually singing within us.”

Margot Eyring - Spiritual Direction Coordinator for Coracle. She has been committed to a multi-denominational community of faith in DC, Washington Community Fellowship, for almost 23 years. Her Ph.D. in “preventive mental health,” M.A. in the area of Christian formation, B.F.A. in studio art, and post-graduate work in contemplative group practice, personal and professional coaching, and yoga provide a broad education and experience that shapes her approach to Spiritual Direction, Direction Supervision and retreat leadership.
